Fondo Esperanza is an organization that grants micro-loans mainly to women entrepreneurs throughout the country organized in communal banks that manage their funds in solidarity, giving opportunities to people who are beyond the reach of traditional banks and strengthening their community relations.
The number of participating entrepreneurs—over 100.000—makes it very difficult to communicate with them in a relevant and immediate way. There is also an enormous potential in the constitution of a network of entrepreneurs.
We developed an extensive strategic design process, traveling the country, speaking and listening to hundreds of women, and leading a co-design process for a social network and app for small entrepreneurs.
The application was released on Apple and Android platforms, with download and use levels that exceeded the expectations of Fondo Esperanza. The project was presented to its headquarters in Spain as a success story and a model to be followed in other Latin American countries where there are similar institutions.
